We fly out of Philadelphia the day after tomorrow, but we've been packed for a week. Clearly, we're very excited.
Our packs each weigh in at about 14 pounds. That doesn't include the one computer that we'll be sharing, a Microsoft Surface tablet. In 2015, my pack weighed in at 14.3 pounds, so we're in the right range--and this hike is three times as long. There have been a lot of discussions about what stays and what goes. It's helped that our new backpacks are lighter than my old one.
And more comfortable.
Also, this time, we're both going to be using hiking poles. They're supposed to take a material load off your legs. Let's hope that's true.
We're going to try to blog every day once we get to Saint Jean Pied de Port, but there will be times when we have no WiFi so a day may pass before you see two posts. Thanks for following us!
